"Yeerks put me in a box. Not a cage, a Ramonite box with seamless walls on all sides. [...] Suddenly, one wall of my cage shimmered and became transparent. Ramonite is a metal that can stretch open or be made clear or opaque by molecular realignment."
Ax[src]

Ramonite is a strong, flexible alien metal that can stretch or be rendered clear or opaque via molecular realignment. The Blade ships of the Yeerk Empire were created using Ramonite.

History

"But as she approached the door, the door widened to her size. It stretched and grew as if the metal skin of the Blade ship were alive."
Marco[src]

Ramonite was a metal material that was sturdy enough to withstand pressurization but could also stretch or have its visibility altered by realigning its molecular structure. As a result, Ramonite was used by the Yeerk Empire,[1] such as on their Blade ships.[2] In 1997,[note 1] when the Animorphs were captured by Visser Three and were forced onto his Blade ship, the Ramonite metal composition of ship stretched to allow Rachel, who was in her elephant morph, to be able to enter the ship.[2]

Ramonite was also used by the Yeerk Empire to create giant boxes, one of which was kept on Visser Three's Blade ship and was used to detain Ax.[1]

Notes

  1. The Andalite Chronicles explicitly states that it is set 21 years before Elfangor met the Animorphs and 10 years after the Yeerk exodus, which The Hork-Bajir Chronicles explicitly reveals to be in 1966. This sets The Andalite Chronicles in 1976, which then places the events of #1: The Invasion in 1997.
